Hi Margie great to see you.
I found the song on amazon and purchased it. After that I emailed Mr. Wright asking him for permission to add it to the site. I believe he wrote it in 2009. I played the song for my parents and they both enjoyed it.

Very nice website, thanks! I l lived on Barnard Ave from my birth in 1960 until 1969 when my family moved to Boulder Colorado. I've been back a few times to see our old house, check out PS 1, our church St. Stephens and other places in town.
Also my mother was born in and grew up in Brooklyn and her parents built a vacation house in Annadale, in the late 1930's, that my cousins still own. My father was from St. Joseph, Missouri. He met my mother when he was stationed in NY before he was shipped off to war (love at first sight). When my parents got married, after WWII they eventually moved to Tottenville where they had 4 children.

Hello Sheila Anne, My son Tom sent me your link. i grew up in Tottenville in the 1940s and 50s. My faher had a store on the corner of Craig Ave & Main St. It's so exciting for me to look at pictures of the old town and see old familiar names. Can I send you a picture of my father in front of his store. It was quite popular at the time.
Cheers, Marie

I was born in Tottenville in 1930 and lived there until 1970. I now live in New Jersey. I do miss my friends even now. I still have relatives living on Staten Island so I do come to visit and sometimmes I ride through Tottenville.I have two sons Fred Jr. and Pat. They both live in England. (long story). I taught at PS 8 in Great Kills for 32 years and was Teacher-in- Charge at the summer playground at PS1 for 15 years. I really love this site. I hope you are able to keep up the good work. Thanks

I spent all my life in Tottenville. Lived in the brick house on the bend of Yetman Avenue across from both schools until I married in 1950. Lived away a short time and then moved back to Craig Avenue near Amboy Road about 60 years ago . So good to read all those good familiar names.Wife Janice grew up in the Biddle House (with columns) on Satterlee Street.

Great website! I just moved to the area recently from Long Island, my husband grew up in Tottenville. It's a lovely place and the history is very interesting. Thank you for the great pictures and information.

I grew up in Tottenville during the 50-60's. My grandparents, who raised me, Phil and Loretta Xiques, ran the the deli on the corner of Amboy and Yetman. My grandfather also had a small animal farm on Sprague Avenue which is where I lived with them. Bus loads of kids would come and pet the animals and have a pony ride. I understand the house has been torn down and the last time I was in Tottenville the store had been converted into a restaurant. I had a wonderful dinner in the middle of the deli! I have lots of fond memories of Tottenville. This is a great website. I'll bookmark it so I can visit often.

I lived in the 4 plex downstairs 174- it was owned by Abe Goldberg. Lived there from 8/60 till 8/66 then moved to Craig Ave. near Main. Me and the gang used to hang out on the corner of Wood and Craig.those were good times. Dave
Yes!!! I lived at (160? 180? Can't remember now. It was about 4 houses down from the 4-plex near the intersection of Craig) from 1964 until I went away to college in St Louis, then moved to California. It was a red house with a yard that went all the way through to Lee Avenue. It's gone now; after my folks sold it & moved in the '90's it was eventually torn down and the property had two houses built on it; one facing Wood, one facing Lee.
My brother still lives down on Arthur Kill Rd, about 2 or 3 blocks from there.

Eva Kilsby says...What a great site. I love tottenville, I'm often there visiting old friends.

Dave Brown says...Great site. Anyone out there from Wood Ave? I lived there in the sixties.

WOW Sheila-Anne! What a great website! I remeber in the 1950's going to watch my brother Frank McAndrew play his trombone with the Tottenville High School Band on the old Pavillion at the end of Hylan Blvd. Also walking around in the Billopp House years later with my kids when they were little, hoping to catch a glimpse of the famed and elusive Billopp House Ghost. The idea of secret tunnels under that house fascinated me.
Keep up the nice work on the website . It shows a very important part of Staten Island that is fast vanishing.

Sheila,

My family moved to Tottenville in 1946. We lived on Craig Ave. near Bently St. I went to PS#1 from second grade on. Although my family moved to Annadale in 1952, I went to Tottenville High and graduated in 1956. Tottenville was still in the sticks at that time. I have been living in SC for the past 43 years and went back a couple of years ago for my 50th reunion from THS. Some things don't change much.
Sheila,
Hi, again. I love how you changed this to where I can easily add more photos to "Margie's Memories" side link!
I just did add a few more pcs & some of my mom's friends to see if any one knows who they are or if you might even be in the pic yourself. :o) Also, if someone knows where they are. If so, please leave us a note saying. Thanks!
Thanks again, Sheila! (you must be getting sick of hearing us say that sooooo much). :o)
